Thermal sensor for intradomiciliary monitoring in localities without reports of the presence of Aedes aegypti

We are a team of biologists exploring the world of open hardware

About Us

This project seeks to determine the indoor thermal conditions of homes in localities without the presence of the aedes aegypti vector. Through the Internet of Things (IoT) in an accessible, operational and innovative way, we seek to better understand the environmental determinants that could limit Aedes infestation.

  • We work in environmental health, in particular in the surveillance and control of vectors of importance in public health.
  • We are preparing to incorporate climatic variables in our interventions

National infestation web report.

  • 22/25 (88%) of subnational regions with Aedes presence reported.
  • 528/1874 (28%) districts report presence of the vector .

Predict to prevent.

With the reports throughout the country, we developed a statistical model to predict the habitat suitability of the vector, with the following applications:

  • Identification of localities with risk of infestation, by neighborhood or model result..
  • Optimize interventions by incorporating environmental/climatic information and its effects on vector disease transmission.
